A small island girl hoping to make a difference in today's youth. As a Title I teacher, students whom I work with receives free/reduced lunch and comes from (brutally) poor economic backgrounds. I work with students who grew up in foster homes, with a grandparent, distant uncle or in some cases with strangers on the street. If we want these youth to hope for something, then we need to make sure that we are giving them our best. They deserve to walk into inviting classrooms. They deserve to be in a classroom where the chairs are not broken, outlets are working, air-conditioned rooms (because a hot and humid classroom does not make for a conducive learning environment) to say the least. Even beyond the furnitures and appliances, these students need basic necessities such as writing materials and up-to-date textbooks! A small island girl hoping to make a difference in today's youth.
