I have been teaching for almost 25 years. It has always been my dream of creating a classroom that felt more like home. Over the years I have added curtains, some lamps: little things that I could afford to add. The budget we are given would not cover the transformation I needed to make. Recently sites like these have become available and I am so excited. I will be in the classroom for another decade and I want to make sure the kids coming through my classroom have an experience like no other. I hope that with the direction I am trying to go that other classrooms like this become the trend. I have my Masters, I am Choice Theory certified, I am Therapy Crisis Intervention certified and was AVID trained. I believe that before children can learn they must feel safe and secure to take a risk - learning is a risk. It is something that you try and might fail at doing the first time. IF we can create a place of comfort and safety then I feel kid's motivation skyrockets. Over the years more and more children have come to me with sensory needs. I am an inclusion classroom that services children who are in the special ed program. These children would greatly benefit from a classroom set up like the one I ream about creating.
