I am the Media Specialist at Umatilla Elementary School in Umatilla, FL. I'm trying to get donations for a book vending machine.
The students use their earned Bulldog bucks to vend 'forever books" that they can keep. Students earn the bucks by doing good deeds, being good citizens and responsible students.
The books in the machine come from Scholastic Book Fair points earned through our library book fair and donations. The first day the machine was opened for the students, we vended 100 books. The students don't pay anything for the books.
In order to keep up with the demand and excitement for the books, we need lots of books. The vending machine holds paperback books. It works because they are about the same size as a potato chip bag.
Our goal is to get students excited about reading and create a love of learning.
