Thank you for taking time to look at this. We have struggled with complications for funding through another company and really need help with making this happen for our students.
Years ago I began to work on teaching a leadership program in one of my elementary schools. I truly could see how kids learn from kids and having student leaders helping out around the building would be an asset for all. Not having adequate time in my schedule. I used my lunch block and planning block to work with some grade 4 classes. As time went on, this turned into a huge Project and I had to get other teachers on board to make it successful. I now teach leadership 2-3 times a week (Still during my lunch and planning blocks) and we work up to a huge field trip in the spring where the kids are taken out in the woods of Durham Maine to the Maine Forest Yurts. They spend the day on team building, survival skills, cooking their own lunch over an open fire and much more. This Class has been life changing for so many of these kids. The school does not fund any of this so each year we face challenges to get the funds to make this possible for the students.
