My teaching journey started in 2006 as a 7th grade ELA teacher. It's weird- teaching was never a career I had considered up until I got that job- yet now I can't imagine myself doing anything else! My experience over the last 12 years has been largely with at-risk youth and those of a low socioeconomic status. These kids need a smile and a safe place to be and I am happy to provide that. One theme that has been common across my years in the classroom is that reading is simply not an activity many students enjoy. My mission is to change that. I want to provide my students with access to as many reading experiences as possible and allow them to explore who they are through books.
