About
This is my sixth year teaching middle school students full time. I usually hear comments like 'You're crazy. I could never do that!" or see faces of surprise and horror when I tell them I wouldn't teach any other age group. I truly love what I do. I graduated with a BA degree in Middle Level Education from the University of South Carolina in 2011. I recently completed a MA in Education with a focus on Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and a graduate certificate in K-12 Reading and Literacy both from Walden University because I strongly believe we need to better prepare our students for a successful life after high school and the skills they need to be effective participants in society. Teaching in Southern California, I have many English Language Learners each school year and so I strive to find ways to make curriculum accessible and relevant for every student. I regularly use personal funds to purchase basic classroom supplies, materials to make lessons more exciting, and online subscriptions to enhance my teaching.
