About
My name is Amanda Holmes and this will be my 5th year teaching. I teach self-contained exceptions children (special education). My students are taught 4 curriculums for 6th grade, but taught with a more hands on and slower paced class. I also teach life skills to my students. This year I would like to incorporate a program called 'Warrior Cafe" where I teach the students to cook and clean, but also money management. I would like the program to start where the students learn life skills to survive, but also interact with other students and teachers to learn how to become professionals. Funding will help provide supplies for the classroom to incorporate 'Warrior Cafe." We also go through a ton of copy paper because we are not provided text books and my students learn differently. Therefore, there are lots of paper copies are made to accommodate each student. I provide most supplies to my students because their personal supplies do not last the entire school year. I like to do lots of science labs and hands on projects to keep the students engaged and interested. I keep the students learning but make it fun and at a slower pace!
