About
I am a Reading Interventionist at Salyers Elementary in Spring ISD. I work with first and second graders who struggle with reading. My goal is to foster a love of reading and increase reading ability in the areas of decoding, comprehension, and fluency. I meet with the students each day for thirty minutes. A strong bond is formed between the students and myself and amongst the students in each group. This bond helps to increase the comfort level when working on reading skills. I love seeing the joy on the students' faces and the light bulb moments as they acquire new skills. This year I am starting an after school book club called Literature League. Through this initiative I will be able to further my goal of fostering a love of reading and increasing reading ability. I am also sponsoring a Literacy Night for the school where parents will learn how to support their child's reading and writing learning at home. Students will also practice skills and engage in exciting games.
