About
I am the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher in my county, & I serve all children with disabilities from 3 years old to school age. I've found teaching Special Education Preschool to be my "calling". I went to school to become an English teacher (secondary), but after teaching for a year, I took a year off & studied to expand my certification to include K-12 Special Education. I got a job teaching a K-3 self contained classroom, where I remained and for 5 years. I loved my position VERY much, but, when the Preschool position became available, my Supervisor said I was the woman for the job. I warily accepted, and began what would turn out to be the best year of my teaching career. I love Preschool! I am the teacher who spends hours changing out Dramatic Play props. I buy planet & astronaut earrings to wear for our Space theme, and scour the internet for gently used equipment just because I know one particular student would benefit from it greatly. Seeing my students learn through play, and make the HUGE transformation from toddlers to school-ready children is the most rewarding thing I can ever imagine myself doing.
