My students come from low income neighborhoods. The majority of the students that attend the high school that I teach will be either the first to finish high school or the first in their families to consider college. Many of the students that come into my Geometry class have failed Algebra as a freshmen, and are continuously struggling in math. Majority of these students are of Hispanic decent, or African american, as well as do not speak English Fluently and are taking ELL classes. Some of these students lack stability in their home and the only stable environment that they have is in my classroom. Parents often have two sometimes three jobs, which make it difficult for parents to contribute to academics.
