About

In 2014, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Child Study from Saint Joseph's College where I also completed my student teaching placement in Hauppauge N.Y at Bretton Woods Elementary School. Currently I obtain my Initial New York State teaching certification in Early Childhood Education (birth-second grade) and Childhood Education (first-sixth grade).
I am currently a second grade teacher at P.S. 255 Barbara Reing School in District 22. Prior to this position I taught first grade at Brooklyn Dreams Charter School. I've also held a position at Riverhead Charter School as the Response to Intervention Reading Specialist for kindergarten through fifth grade students. In my career I also obtained a leave replacement position and was also a teacher's assistant at The Laurel Hill School in East Setauket. Throughout my experience I have been placed in a variety of different classrooms including a first grade integrated co-teaching classroom, K-1-2 self-contained class, a fifth grade inclusion classroom and a classroom where I provide small group instruction to struggling readers. Each experience has allowed me to gain skills necessary to provide students with high quality instruction that also provide students with a safe and secure purpose in the classroom.
Throughout my career I've worked with students with differing academic and socioeconomic needs. As an educator, I believe it is important to modify plans to accommodate the diverse needs of all students. As a result, throughout my experience I have become proficient at developing lesson plans to accommodate the needs of all students, while adhering to the New York State Common Core Standards. My goal as an educator is to create a classroom environment where students enjoy coming to learn. I believe in creating a safe, comfortable and functional classroom environment for all students. I also intend to instill the values of respect, responsibility, and cooperation within students.
