I became a 7th grade teacher to provide kids with support and care that I needed more of when I was their age. Due to being seemingly-relatable, I'm able to guide and mentor many students, along with teaching important skills of Mathematics! This is my 8th year teaching 7th graders math! As technology creates conveniences and crutches, each year I'm struggling more and more to compete with the engagement of technology. I'm still old skill and prefer more hands on activities. I'm a huge supporter of the importance of understanding the 'why' to gain true knowledge on a topic, and implement activities accordingly.
I'm teaching in the same district that raised me! Also, I prefer the title of Encourager over teacher; these kids are truly brilliant and are lacking in confidence and perseverance.
