Years of experience
Students this year
I became a 6-12 ELA teacher after teaching college for five years. After reading paper upon paper with grammar, spelling, and capitalization errors, I realized that there was a stronger demand for good K-12 teachers, so now I'm teaching 11/12th ELA at an inner city school that's grossly affected by gun violence, domestic violence, poverty, food deserts, drugs, and more. There are students who can be reached and choose a different path than that of their peers. My theory is that I do not have any bad students, only bad situations and bad decisions. I spend a lot of time getting to know my students and connecting with them on a daily basis because I care about each one of them, regardless of their circumstances. When their hierarchy of needs isn't being met in the most fundamental of ways, I try to make up for those losses, especially providing them with someone who genuinely cares about their education and well-being.

My English III students are about to study "The Tempest" and we'd like to take a trip to Chicago to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater to see a live performance of one of Shakespeare's plays. The issue is cost. We need to help students pay for admission which is $20. We have approximately 70 students who would go see this performance. We have to travel from Peoria, IL to Chicago, IL, and we would need a charter bus. We need funding to help make this happen. If you can help us, please donate to our cause.
How will funding help my students?
The funding will help with taking disadvantaged, inner city high school juniors to see a live performance of one of Shakespeare's plays at Chicago's Navy Pier. We need to rent a charter bus from Peoria, IL to Chicago, IL, and help students pay for the performance fee. Your contribution can help us get there.
