Our school is an early childhood school seeing our youngest learners in Pre-K through first grade. The class that I will be teaching this year is a first grade class, comprised of 23 students from very diverse backgrounds, many of which have special needs. I believe that every teacher should set high expectations for his/her students, and that every child can achieve mastery. Educators should never change the expectations for children of special subgroups, rather they should change the strategy to reach these students. This entails providing the necessary resources and supports to do so. These children have worked so hard this year, and made incredible strides in both reading and writing. I would like to reward the children with this 100th Day of School by bringing in a Bears to Build activity for the students to partake in. During this activity, children will choose a stuffed animal, stuff it, name it, and bring it home. Many of these children have never gone to an actual Build-A-Bear location due to lack of funds, therefore this similar activity would be the next best thing. Thank you.
