I am a teacher of 3rd graders. In my state, this group has a Reading Guarantee they must meet in order to progress to 4th grade. It's an added stress to students, parents, and teachers. I try to make the learning environment feel safe and comfortable, all while making sure to cover the standards.
Flexible seating would add to the classroom environment by providing choices for students. Allowing them to choose where they learn most effectively. More sets of small group books allows for me to provide a variety of reading choices in the hopes of teaching my students that reading can be fun and not just 'more work".
