I have been teaching at North Tamarind Elementary since 1995. I have been teaching 1st grade for 23 out of my 24 years. One year I thought 2nd grade. I'm starting to have some of the 2nd generation students. The first time this happened, I was literally floored. I have had at least 5 sets of families where I had the parent when they were in 1st grade and in the last few years had their son or daughter in my class. One of the things that I get to say to those students is "Oh, I remember, your mom/dad was also good at reading, writing, or math. Or I also say, "Wait, your mom/dad did not behave like I want to give the North Tamarind Cougars the best opportunity possible to be successful after they leave my 1st grade class.
