I have been a teacher for 28 years and teaching remotely is a first for me. For the last 9 years, I have been working with students who speak another language at home. The students come from low income families. During this Covid-19 pandemic, teaching from home is a challenge when your students speak little English. They have enough trouble completing classwork online that their teachers assign. I don't want to frustrate them more by also assigning work, so I have taken a different approach. I sent them a letter in the snail mail. I explained to them that we are going to work on writing friendly letters and sentence structure, among other things. I included a self addressed stamped envelope and a piece of paper to give them the opportunity to write me back. I have sent them 3 letters so far and have spent more that $150 on stamps and supplies. Your donation would help to cover the costs so I can continue writing my 30 students.
