Shanna Simmons

My name is Shanna Simmons and I have been teaching since 2007. I was a non traditional student. I had a family and went back to school to receive my Bachelors and Masters in Education while working as a paraprofessional for 6 years. When I was a child, I dreamed of being a teacher. Yes, I believe teachers are born wanting to teach. It's just in their blood. I have taught elementary school and I am currently teaching the BEST kids in the world! I teach self-contained special education. I have students that are autistic, downs and have health and mental disabilities. They are kind, loving children. I am blessed to have two boys of my own which are 16 and a junior in high school and a 20 year old which is serving our great country in the Navy. My husband of 21 years and I are truly blessed.
I want my students to be able to be productive citizens and contribute to society in a positive manner. We enjoy a lot of hands on activities. Now, we are wanting them to expand their learning and think more outside 'the box". They are capable!! I want to provide them hands on activities that they can work on at their pace and be successful in doing so. With this, I am needing activities and tubs for them to utilize. I need markers, crayons, plastic tubs, personal laminator, toothpicks, play do, modeling clay, pipe cleaners, dry erase markers, construction paper, etc...
