The students that we have been so lucky to teach this year are an energetic bunch of hands-on learners! While we have been out, we have been working hard on getting some things ready for when this group of students return to ready to learn! This active group of kids have many different qualities that are shaped from a variety of backgrounds. We are near a military base so much of our school families are already on their second or third school even though they are still elementary students. Being a Title I school, many of the remaining students carry a very different set of experiences.
Our first graders are curious, enthusiastic, creative, and eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge.
These students have the motivation and love to learn new things.
We're all in this together!”

What will the funds be used for
No matter how you look at it, COVID19 will effect our littlest learners. First grade is the year that these eager students make the most growth in reading! They go from reading small 3 letter words, to sounding out and decoding long passages! It's incredible to watch!
We've been working with parents during our time apart to gauge where students are academically struggling the most.
This has helped us to prepare materials in advance so that we can fill in the gaps that the students are forming in their education. We know that with hard work, they will catch up! Between Google Meets with kids, Google Classroom lessons, parent conferences, staff meetings, and preparing for our learners that aren't able to access the internet, we have purchased an excellent resource to help fill these gaps in reading that has a lot of little parts. The first grade team needs storage so that we can keep all of the little parts together. This project will help us purchase storage containers and ring binders to finish the phonics project so that we can get them back on track! Thanks for your support!
