Michelle Kahan

I am the STEM/Computer Science Teacher at P.S. 123Q in South Ozone Park, Queens, New York. I teach classes from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. The vast majority of my students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and face many hardships in their daily lives.

My students are very energetic and curious. This motivates me to create new and exciting ways to keep them engaged with hands-on activities and STEM challenges. Students love coming into my classroom because they know they will be challenged to think outside the box using collaboration and teamwork.

I have been working at P.S. 123Q for twenty years. Prior to being a STEM/Computer Science Teacher, I was a classroom teacher and taught second, third, and fourth grade for many years. I do miss having my own class, but teaching every class allows me to get to know almost every student in the school on a personal level.

I love what I do and I'm always searching for bigger and better ways to challenge and engage all of my students!
