My name is Mia Ortiz. I teach 9th-12th grade at RIVERSIDE HIGH SCHOOL in El Paso, TX!

I am trying because our budget at RHS keeps getting cut each year. This fiscal year (2018-2019) our art department was given $1,500 to split between two Art teachers who each service 197 students a year. It can be discouraging but I am trying to get creative and ensure all possibilities for my talented students.

Art supplies that are purchased are not always enough to finish out the school year. We manage to use every bit of our mediums. It is not enough to fundraise and trust me we fundraise. It is difficult to ask our students, whose parents can barely afford all basic art supplies for the school year to come through with additional help.
