I teach in a suburban setting right outside of Chicago. I teach a special education math class for 6th grader that have a diagnosed math disability. The students in my class have struggled with math for years and are typically multiple grade levels below where they should be. I try to use as many hands on manipulative to engage students in filling in their gaps of learning while also teaching them grade level curriculum.
