Maureen Gates

I started teaching when I was young, before getting married and before children. It was a dream come true and something I knew I wanted to do since my third grade year in school! I worked with other teachers all about the same age and in the same place in life. I taught in that school for 10 years but as life moved on, I did too. I got married, moved schools, bought a house closer to my husband's job. After only two short years at my new school I resigned to be a stay at home mom which was another dream come true! After two kids and 9 years at home I went back to teaching at our home school in our district. I learned two things when I returned to the classroom. The first, is that everything had changed. I had a lot to learn and it was scary and exciting. The second thing, I learned was that nothing had changed and kids were still kids needing love, support and encouragement and I was excited to be a part of that!
