I am a 49 years-old mother of 3 boys. My youngest son has autism, so as you can imagine, our life has been a constant struggle to get him the services he needs with little financial resources.
Having a son with disabilities gives you a different perspective of life and of your priorities. I felt that my job in corporate was really not making an impact in people's lives. An opportunity came up to become a teacher in Dallas and it has been the greatest thing that has happened to me in a while. I just love my students and helping families. This change has also benefited my family. We are still short on cash, but we feel more accomplished. I just wish I had more resources to have an awesome classroom for my students.
