As a veteran teacher of 28 years I've seen a great deal change over the years in the early childhood field! One thing has remained the same, however. Children need to play! They need to explore! They need to have hands-on developmentally appropriate materials... and the school system doesn't have funds for this. So, teachers use their own funds or do without.
