I'm a mother, a musician, and a teacher. My first love was music, though. It has rescued me over and over again. There has never been a time in my life when I haven't been heavily involved in all things music making, from playing piano to singing in choir. Sharing it with my own children has become the greatest blessing and watching it transform the lives of the amazing students I teach is one of my greatest honors. I have longed, ever since I decided I would become a music teacher, to pay my own very fortunate experience forward; to give others the gift of some of the great musical experiences I had growing up that were transformative and precious. But, alas, unless I have my own six figure classroom budget (or just a personal income big enough to fund all the things I wish to bring to fruition) my students will never experience even a fraction of what a high quality music education has to offer them. Did I mention those experiences were life changing? That says a great deal about their inherent value, which is priceless.
