My story, well, believe it or not I knew I wanted to be a music teacher way back in 6th grade! I went to WWU and got my degree. I got a job right away in the Mt. Baker school district and taught there for 2 years. My husband graduated and our first child was born. We moved cities and I chose to stay home to raise children, I also taught private piano lessons. We had 3 children and once the baby went to first grade I longed to return to teaching. I'm now heading into my 4th year at Garfield Elementary - a fantastic school with supportive staff and great kids. It's a title 1 school so there's really no PTA money and we can't do fund raisers. The kids are so capable and love coming to music, each year I spend so much of my own money to provide things we need for a well-rounded music program K-5. Any donation is very appreciated!
