I am a special education teacher in an autism classroom. My students are intelligent, caring, inquisitive, quirky, and also happen to have autism. Having autism comes with additional sensory needs. When my students do not have their sensory needs met it is similar to another child being hungry or sleep deprived. They have a much harder time functioning in the classroom. If I am able to purchase sensory items and equipment for my classroom to better meet my students sensory needs they will be able to feel safe secure and ready to learn.
