I teach an Intensive Reading class, so my class is a mandated class for students who do not pass the state standardized tests. I face a lot of push back at the beginning of the year from students who are not too happy to have one of their electives chosen for them, and for it to be READING of all things. How will funding help my students?
I am mostly looking to incorporate more flexible seating in my classroom to increase student engagement. We have a time blocked out of Independent Reading every day and I want to students to be comfortable when they are reading and our traditional desks don't offer that comfort.
I am also always trying to add more books to my classroom library so my students can have a wide variety of books to choose from.
