Amanda Ross

I have been teaching for 9 years now. This is my second year in middle school, I come from and elementary background. I love teaching middle school, I don't know why I didn't switch sooner! I teach an Intensive Reading class, so my class is a mandated class for students who do not pass the state standardized tests. I face a lot of push back at the beginning of the year from students who are not too happy to have one of their electives chosen for them, and for it to be READING of all things. My hope is to create a classroom environment where students can feel comfortable and begin to associate reading with positive experiences. I spend a lot of my time getting to know my students so I can help them pick books that they can relate to and will actually like.
