Years of experience
Students this year
Teaching Kindergarten is my passion. Spending all day with 5 & 6 years olds is not something everyone loves to do but spend an hour in my classroom and you will see the joyous faces of my students. After teaching in both a title 1 school and now a private school I have realized students at this age all need the same thing. A inviting classroom that is calm that they can call their own. That’s where I need help. Every year I spend hundreds of dollars making sure my students feel comfortable in my classroom and that it is a place they enjoy being. Studies show children cannot learn when overwhelmed or in a place where their affective filter is high because it creates stress. My goal as a teacher is to let each one of my students feel loved and welcome in my classroom so they can have the best learning experience in Kindergarten.
How will funding help my students?
Creating a warm and inviting classroom each year for my students is my highest priority. I’m becoming more aware how much I have to spend out of my own pocket to make this happen. Last year I purchased tall stools, a standing desk, pillows and comfy chairs for students to pick the most comfortable spot to work. With my class size growing this year and some things needing to be replaced from being loved on by 22 Kindergartens last year. This funding will go towards making our classroom a calm sanctuary for each child to have “their special space”. Thank you in advance for your generosity. ❤️
Number of students who will be impacted: 26
