“So often you find that the students you are trying to inspire are the ones that end up inspiring you.” Sean Junkins
Years of experience
Students this year
I started my teaching career at a private school teaching 1st and 2nd grade. I never thought I would end up where I am! I am currently teaching 6th-8th grade special education to kiddos that often come to me broken. I spend my days hugging, teaching, supporting, and loving them. I have seen them show strength that I never thought was possible from them and get through rough patches that would have done me in. I absolutely love them and I look forward to spending my days with them. I pray everyday when I leave them that they will be back to me tomorrow, safe and happy.
How will funding help my students?
I teach in a very poor district. All of my students come from broken homes, very poor families, and they have minimal resources. The funding will help me to provide them with some of their basic needs (toiletries, clothing, school supplies) that I generally pay for on my own. It will also help to provide them with field trips outside of the classroom that they generally can not afford.
