My name is Alyssa Tyra and I have been teaching for five years. In 2014, I started teaching freshman at a low-income, inner city school. I absolutely loved working there, but in 2016, after receiving a call from a former teacher turned principal, I decided to move back home and teach in my hometown.

For two years at Jones, I taught 7th grade and coached softball and cheer and was a student council sponsor. This last school year, I moved to 8th grade and continued coaching and sponsoring my club. This year, I was honored as the Jones Middle School Teacher of the Year and the Masonic Lodge Teacher of Today. On top of all of my duties, I started a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction this year.

In my classroom, I strive to build authentic relationships with my kids. I am honest, loving, demanding, and their biggest cheerleader. I help them work through life struggles and school struggles. Through my English curriculum, I teach them skills that transfer to situations outside of the classroom.
