I grew up attending Long Beach schools. I had excellent teachers that inspired me to teach. Since I can remember I wanted to be a teacher and would set up my own little classroom in our laundry room. My dad supported my dream to be a teacher. He bought me a little chalkboard and hung it on the wall. One birthday, he gifted me a little white metal bell with a red rose on it-all teachers need a bell to get the students’ attention. My parents always valued education and supported us even when money was tight. They took pride in our accomplishments and when I graduated from college, I was the first in my family to do so. I was lucky enough to get hired at my elementary school where I taught for 15 years in the room that was my own 2nd grade classroom. Teaching is truly a work of heart and it’s rewarding to know you are making a difference in children’s lives each day.

Teach every day as if your own child was sitting in your classroom.”

What will funds be used for

The funding will help provide supplemental materials and supplies for my students for special projects and day to day learning.
