My career in education began in 1988. I was a second grade teacher for 18 years. My administration approached me about reopening our school library that hadn't been used in years. I was apprehensive at first but soon realized that teaching children to enjoy what they were reading without the stress of questioning and testing was where I needed to be. I teach a lifelong skill that we cannot overlook as educators. The more students read for enjoyment the more they will read. The more they read the higher they will achieve.
