Alicia Waitkoff

I grew up in a small town in Indiana and graduated from Purdue University. After meeting my husband in college, I left Lafayette to begin my teaching career in Chicago. This change of culture and big city life taught me to be strong and independent. I loved getting to know various people from different backgrounds and began to understand the value of being a positive role model to underprivileged youth. By being immersed into an inner city school, I was able to make a difference through service and various avenues from my own life experiences. While in Chicago for 10 years, I earned my Masters Degree (M. ED.) from National Louis while my husband completed his Doctoral Degree In Psychology. My husband's background has also guided me to understand what others may be facing and has helped me to become a better educator. We have raised our 2 daughters to appreciate and respect all walks of life. Today, I am back in Lafayette with a communities of students who need support daily. I want to continue to lead by example with high expectations for all of my students and also give them support by providing what they need inside and outside of school.
