Alfredo Soria

I am a special education teacher, for students with moderate to severe cognitive disabilities. I work with the high school population at a very large inner city school. This population has been a wonderful experience for me, to really show the almost limitless boundaries people are capable of overcoming when properly supported by those around them. I enjoy coming to work everyday, I am grateful that even on my toughest days there are so many things that give me the opportunity to look back on and smile at at the end of each day. With that being said I also think about what more could be done to help some of the most often overlooked segments of our community population. My students have so many disadvantages in life compared to their more typically developed peers, and also those who come from a higher economic social strata, but even through all this, my students are never ones to complain and really focus on all the positives in their lives, which is one of their greatest gifts to me, that I am grateful for everyday.
