Entering a school for the very first time may be very overwhelming and scary for kindergartners. With Spanish as their first language, speaking absolutely no word of English and never having the privilege of receiving formal education before, can be quite terrifying as a 5-year-old. It will be my third year as a kindergarten teacher at a charter school in West Dallas this school year. The students come from low-income families and many are ELL with Spanish as their first language.

These are the students I will be teaching!

As a 4th year kindergarten teacher, it is very important to be able to provide the students with a strong foundation, especially in their very first year of formal classroom instruction. Many of the students come in with no formal written or speaking skills in both their native language as well as in English.

I want to make a difference in the lives of my students and show them the power of learning! I want my students to receive the education they deserve so one day they can look back and say kindergarten was the year I will never forget!

What will the funds be used for

Entering a school for the very first time may be very overwhelming and scary for kindergartners. I want to make a difference in the lives of my students and show them the power of learning! I want my students to receive the education they deserve so one day they can look back and say kindergarten was the year I will never forget!

This funding will help me buy resources for my students that will help them become stronger readers and writers. I will be able to provide my students that come from low-income families: school supplies, books, uniforms..etc. I want to provide everything in my power for my students, because they are our next generation and they are the ones who will soon be college-going students that will make a difference in this world.
