“Wrong answers lead to right answers... or at least better ones”

Students this year
I was born in Lomé, Togo at a time where it wasn’t seen as a necessity to educate women. My mom was robbed of an opportunity to go to school so when we came to America, the first thing she did was enroll us in school. Having watched my teachers work so tirelessly to bring me to grade level and acquire the language really motivated me to become an educators. I love being in an ELA classroom because I feel there’s so much opportunity there for students to connect their lives to what they’re learning. It gives students an opportunity to read and write the world around them. I will be starting off my first year in my very own classroom in 4th grade!
How will funding help my students?
As a first year teacher, there are many things I want to implement in my class. A welcoming environment helps students feel more at ease and willing to learn. I want to equipt my babies with as many resources as I can. Donations will be used towards compositions notebooks, pencils, markers, etc. As an ELA teacher, I never want them to lose the love of writing and try to implement 5 minutes of free write everyday. I need furniture for my students to be able to sit in a comfortable quiet place as they write about anything they want or as we have classroom discussions and work collaboratively. Any and all donations help. Thank you!
Number of students who will be impacted: 27
