"what’s your why?"
Years of experience
Students this year
I was born and raised in Houston, TX as the oldest of 3 girls. I always had a knack for teaching which I can attest to at a young age. With me being the oldest I always sought our ways to teach my younger siblings new things. I knew I wanted to be a teacher in second grade. I’m a first generation college graduate to revive both my bachelors and masters degrees and plan to further my education on a doctoral level.
I hope to be able to step outside of the classroom in my later career and sworn with incoming teachers that are eager to put their mark on the future generations. I love collaborating with my peers and sharing ideas for how we can improve as educators! Throughout my career as an educator I can say I’ve learned about perseverance, collaborative effort, social and cultural awareness and what it means to be an impactful teacher.
How will funding help my students?
My students are classified as low socioeconomic status so scarcity is a commonality within campus culture. My campus was also in the top 5 schools in the Houston Independent School District to suffer severe loss from Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Funding would help me bring technology integration, school supplies and classroom environment funding into my room. I strive to not only teach, but to make my learning environment a welcoming place that taps into my students’ innovative mindset in order to shape the creators of the future.
