Years of experience
Students this year
I graduated from Nicholls State University in December of 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, grades four through eight, and again in May of 2017 with an Associate of Science in Child Development with a concentration in Preschool Management. In May of 2016, I received my certification in Mild/Moderate disabilities (Special Education). For my first few years, I taught sixth and seventh grade Special Education at a local school in Thibodaux. This past school year, I taught fifth grade ELA at an elementary school in Thibodaux. My heart is with Special Education am definitely in the middle school setting. I’ve always had a soft spot for children, especially children who come from challenging backgrounds, which the school I work in is highly filled with. I absolutely adore my kids and want what is best for them, but that comes at a price that is not always easy to pay, especially with many mouths to feed at home. I’m hoping that with the money earned, I can get my students exactly what they need to be successful throughout the school year.
How will funding help my students?
The funding will assist with buying necessities such as pencils, paper, notebooks, etc. for students whose parents are unable to afford them. The school I work at is considered high poverty so it would be extremely helpful.
