"Whether you think you can, or you can’t, you’re right."
Years of experience
Students this year
I started my teaching career in Bellwood, a west suburb of Chicago. I transitioned from the middle school to a high school in Chicago Heights. After two years at the high school, I realized my position was funded through a school improvement grant that was not renewed. I lost my job and found myself in central Illinois back at a middle school. I love them and want to be able to provide the best for my students. Anything and everything helps.
How will funding help my students?
Basic supplies are more expensive than you think. My students are unable to afford to bring in Kleenex, sanitizer, writing utensils, etc. In addition, there are many things I would like to have in my classroom to help students basic needs: electronic pencil sharpener, calculator wall caddy, document camera, speakers, among other things. If you aren’t sure how much classroom supplies cost, check out a school supplies store some time. Every little bit helps.
Number of students who will be impacted: 120
